A fuel injector issue has resulted in a recall of nearly 700,000 Ford vehicles.
Certain Ford Bronco sport vehicles and Ford Escape vehicles are under recall, according to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The automaker says the fuel injectors inside the recalled vehicles could crack and leak inside the engine compartment. If enough liquid fuel or even fuel vapor accumulates on a hot surface, a fire could ignite underneath the hood.
The Ford Bronco sport model years under recall are from 2021 to 2024. The Ford Escape model years are from 2020 to 2022.
Ford said affected vehicle owners can go to a dealer for an interim software update that can help alert when there's a fuel injector leak. A final remedy for the issue is in development.
