Recall: Fully cooked chicken sausage sold nationwide could contain plastic

Kayem Foods Inc. has recalled 24,173 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken sausage products that may be contaminated with pieces of plastic.

Specifically: 

11-oz. vacuum-packed packages containing four pieces of “ALL NATURAL al fresco CHICKEN SAUSAGE SWEET APPLE with Vermont made syrup” with lot code “179” and “USE/FRZ BY” date “OCT 01 2025” printed on the back package label.  

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-7839” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

At least three customers reported finding white pieces of plastic in the chicken sausage. No one has reported an injury after consuming the products, but the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) warns that the chicken sausage should not be eaten. Products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
