Popular places to sled in Raleigh, Cary, Wake Forest
First, make sure you are prepared to sled safely. You can get hurt - with common injuries including bruises, cuts and broken bones. Wear a helmet and do not sled head first.

Bond Park, 801 High House Rd., Cary
This is a popular sledding spot when it snows. It is such a good spot for sledding that the town hosts annual "Winter Wonderland" events where they even bring in man-made snow for sledding.
Dix Park off Western Boulevard in Raleigh
Harvey Hill is another very popular spot for sledding at Dix Park when it snows, especially for families. The hills have even attracted some WRAL reporters to pick up a sled during their snow day coverage.
Fletcher Park, 820 Clay St., Raleigh
Fletcher Park is another great spot when the snow falls. It s located near Broughton High School. Former WRAL reporter Joe Fisher even went sledding there in 2022.
Roanoke Park, 1500 Cherokee Drive, Raleigh
The hill at Roanoke Park is also a popular sledding location. The park is in one of the Five Points historic neighborhoods.
E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Rd., Wake Forest
This park is 117 acres with many hills for sledding. It is located one mile east of Capital Boulevard. When not snowing, there is ample green space for soccer and outdoor games.
Duke Park, 106 W. Knox St., Durham
There are some good spots to sled, but watch out for trees.
Chapel Hill Community Center, 120 S. Estes Drive, Chapel Hill
Another playground that has some good hills!
