Waking up on Friday morning, we could see a few widespread light showers. The bulk of the rain will be south of the Triangle.
- Friday: A few spotty showers. High of 55.
- Saturday: Partly cloudy skies with mild temperatures. Highs will reach the mid 60s.
- Sunday: Partly cloudy skies and considereably milder. Highs in the lower to mid 70s.

Rain moves out just in time for the weekend
A few lingering showers are possible on Friday. WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said a front that is coming in will stall to the south. Another wave of low pressure develops along it, bringing rain back to the area on Friday.
Some of the southern counties could see about a 30% chance of rain. That chance increases as you head closer to the coast.
But we won't see a washout weekend. The rain should move out just in time for the upcoming weekend. Temperatures will be very comfortable through the weekend, as well.
Saturday, we’ll see highs back in the mid-60s, and by Sunday, we could reach the mid-70s.
“Go ahead and start thinking about some outdoor plans for the beautiful upcoming weekend,” Campbell said.
Pollen updates have begun
With the warmer temperatures, we also have to deal with tree pollen. The latest pollen report shows low levels of Elm, Juniper, Cypress, Cedar and Alder.
Drought worsens
We are now in a "severe" drought, and parts of our area are under extreme drought conditions, including Nashville, Roanoke Rapids, Enfield and Tarboro.
All of the state is in at least a moderate drought.
Despite some rain over the last two weekends, more is needed to overcome the drought.
