The North Carolina Attorney General's Office is encouraging families who did business with a North Carolina photographer to file a complaint with their office.

This comes one day after 5 On Your Side learned that Holly Christina Photography, the company that owed more than 150 families engagement and wedding photos totaling up to $540,000, had ceased operations.

According to a Facebook post, the company is no longer able to continue providing photography or videography services, adding that all business operations are in the process of being formally closed.

The company did not explain why it was stopping operations or what would happen to people who had ordered photography services through them. The company did provide an email address for clients to contact for existing matters and additional questions.

"We appreciated your understanding during this difficult situation," the company wrote in their post.

More than 50 North Carolina brides reached out to 5 On Your Side days before the photography company shut down, claiming they were out of thousands of dollars for services the company did not provide. On Jan. 19, about 20 brides were on a zoom call and said they paid Holly Christina Photography thousands of dollars, often upfront and in full, for services they said they never recieved.

“We believe the company has collected at least $160,000 from us collectively,” one bride told 5 On Your Side, referring to payments for services not yet rendered.

One woman, who said her daughter is getting married in March, went on to say that several of the victims formed a group chat and began noticing similar patterns among them.

"It seems to be a tactic of hers," the mother said. "When you're first approached [by] her, she tells you that she's having a sale. Our sale was called the Black Friday sale, but they've been called other things and that we're the last ones to grab this spot if we pay in full."

The mother told 5 on Your Side that they reached out to Holly Christina Photography in December 2024. By November the following year, they still had no schedule for bridal portraits.

The mother said she paid $5,794 and some change. According to the company's website, some couples can pay up to $7,599 for their wedding. Some of the perks in that package include two photographers, a videographer and access to over 700 professionally edited images.

In response to 5 On Your Side's initial report, Holly Christina Photograpy released a statement on Facebook saying Holly, who ran the business, had been hospitalized twice and had been navigating a "serious and unexpected emergency."

During the same period, in late October, Christopher Owen Ayscue, the company's co-owner, was arrested in a charge of assault on a female and domestic violence.

Holly Christina Photography said it will review any questions they receive "periodically," but did not outline a process for clients to be made whole when the company closes.
