JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Jacksonville police rolled out 55 new body cameras Monday, September 1, and both officers and residents say this will bring further protection and transparency.
The new Axon Body 4 cameras replace their in-car systems, with priority given to officers who interact with the public.
Captain Chris Funcke says they have tested the cameras for about a month to ensure that they are comfortable and safe.
"We've received nothing but good feedback from the officers about the cameras," Funcke said. "They're excited to have them. It's just another item that we have at our disposal to gather evidence for criminal cases and also for transparency."
