Live drawing for $223 Powerball jackpot moved from Florida due to Hurricane Helene; will not be televised

Wednesday night's Powerball drawing will not be broadcast live on TV Wednesday from Florida due to Hurricane Helene.

According to North Carolina Education Lottery officials, The Powerball drawing will be moved from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee, Fla. due to Hurricane Helene and will not be broadcast live on television or online.

Helene is expected to make landfall Thursday as a Category 4 hurricane on the Florida panhandle.

Lottery officials said the drawing will still be held at 10:59 p.m. from a backup site in Johnston, Iowa. Security footage of the drawings will be posted to the Powerball YouTube page after the drawings are over.

Wednesday's jackpot stands at $223 million. The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
