A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Garner, the Johnston County Sheriff's Office said Sunday.
The shooting happened in the 200 block of Madden Rose Loop, which is in Johnston County, just around 11:30 a.m.

The sheriff's office said that deputies were responding to a 911 call where the caller said a family member was discharging a firearm in the house and acting strangely. When deputies confronted the man, they said he made remarks and challenged them with a firearm.
The sheriff's office said a deputy was forced to defend himself and, as a result, the man was shot.
Deputies attempted to perform life saving measures on the man but were not successful. The man died at the scene. No deputies were injured.
The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting, standard procedure when a law enforcement officer fires a weapon.
The deputies involved have been put on administrative leave while the investigation is conducted.
