Madeline Smith is gunning to be on the cover of a women's fitness magazine after finding new purpose through a Moore County CrossFit gym.

<p>Um I truly didn't start being a drinker until I had uh turned 21. And then when it was so readily accessible to me, um I was able to, you know, get whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. Um I also put myself through college waiting tables. Um And I feel like being in that atmosphere, um Just drinking is a normal thing. That's kind of what everyone does. It's the culture of that. And I, um when I was in college, I saw that my friends could have a couple of drinks and then just be done with it. And I was always someone where I didn't drink at all or I drank until I couldn't remember. Um And I was afraid of that. But then when I started in the hospitality industry, there were a lot of people like me. And so I just thought, oh, well, this is just, you know, they weren't like that and this is how other people are. Um It wasn't really until I got married and started to settle down and we wanted to have Children that I realized that my drinking was different and I could drink and be social and be the fun, jovial drunk to a point. And then once I knew I was, at that point, I would remove myself from that social situation and I would go home and that's kind of where the wheels would come off. And I just became a complete for lack of better words. I an absolute jerk. Um And obviously I'm predisposed to alcoholism. It runs in my family. Um And that's kind of like when the wheels came off, it was a horse of a different color at that point where I just was not a nice person and I was not someone I was proud of. Um and just even thinking back to the things that I've said to the people that I care about it just um it immensely bothers me to this day. Um which is another reason why I'm trying to do something like this and show people my story because I feel like it's kind of a way of me paying it back. Um You know, hope is only lost when you stop looking for it. You know, there's always an opportunity to better yourself and all you have to do is ask for help. And now, I mean, I wanted to go into this so people would see me and, and see that there is hope in that, see how far I've come and to think that I could also donate a large portion of money to a nonprofit. I mean, how cool is that?</p>

THAT'S WHERE THINGS REALLY TOOK A TURN. &gt;&gt; YOUNG'S THAT THE CALL WITH 15 PEOPLE ESCALATED QUICKLY. &gt;&gt; THE ONE THING I REMEMBER HIM SAYING EXPLICITLY WAS I DON'T MOURN GEORGE FLOYD, HE SAID IT REPEATEDLY. &gt;&gt; THEN CAME THE TWEET WHERE HE CRITICIZED THE INSTITUTE FOR HEALTH METRICS. &gt;&gt; THE RESPONSE TO A TWEET THAT SAID THAT RACISM IS A PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE, GREG GLASSMAN SEE YOU WITH CROSSFIT RESPONDED TO THAT TWEET AND SAID IT'S A FLOYD 19 ISSUE. &gt;&gt; SINCE THEN GLASSMAN HAS APOLOGIZED SEVERAL TIMES ON TWITTER THINK WHAT I CROSSFIT HQ AND THE CROSSFIT COMMUNITY WILL NOT STAND FOR RACISM. MADE A MISTAKE BY THE WORDS I CHOSE YESTERDAY. BUT THAT WON'T CHANGE YOUNG'S MIND. HE FEELS LIKE REMOVING HIS AFFILIATION TO CROSS THAT WAS THE BEST THING TO DO. &gt;&gt; I COULDN'T BE ASSOCIATED WITH AN ORGANIZATION THAT WAS SO WILLING TO BE AS INSENSITIVE ESPECIALLY THE TIME OF NATIONAL CRISIS OR OF THESE ISSUES. &gt;&gt; THE OWNER WILL BE STAYING AT THE LOCATION BUT HE WILL BE CHANGING THE NAME.
