After a weekend full of protests nationwide, some members of the state's Republican Party are calling on a Democratic lawmaker to resign because of something she posted online.
Jason Simmons will lead the North Carolina Republican Party for another two years. This comes as North Carolina Republicans met Saturday in Greensboro to elect a chair and vice chairs, which direct state party operations and play a critical role in fundraising, messaging and campaigning.
Scholars who study governments around the globe say a legal challenge over a contested seat on the North Carolina Supreme Court is similar to attempts to weaken democracy in other countries.
