Police on Monday said they are expanding their search and created a tipline for their investigation into the death of a man found shot in his car a week earlier in Garner.
At Garner town hall, a spokesperson for the police department said they are searching for a suspect tied to the death of Joey Adams. Adams was found shot inside a car during a welfare check Monday night, Feb. 9, in the area of Timber Drive and Vandora Springs Road.

First responders took Adams to a hospital, where he later died. Friends and family of Adams have been searching for answers since his death.
“Turn yourself in, man," said DJ Corcoran, Adams' friend of 28 years, who spoke with WRAL the day after his death. "You don’t know who you took from us. Anybody that knows Joey or ever met Joey Adams will remember Joey Adams. He will hold strong in your heart."
Police said they decided to expand their search beyond the crime scene due to how many people who may have traveled along Timber Drive and Vandora Springs Road around the time Adams was shot.
"His family and the Garner community are mourning his loss, and they deserve answers about who took Joey away from them in this act of violence," a police spokesperson said.
Police said anyone with tips or information related to Adams' death can call their tipline at 919-890-7318.
