Watching sports is a treasured American pastime, but it is becoming more expensive to be a sports fan.
A new survey finds the average loyal sports fan spends $1,600 a year supporting their favorite team, not including traveling to games out of town, according to Ally Financial. The survey also found that 57% of fans admit to overspending on sports.

After spending on tickets, fans spend most on food, drinks, team apparel and travel.
Even if fans choose to stay at home and watch the game, they are now paying for that too.
NFL games used to be free to watch on network TV. A new report from The Hill says streaming games cost fans almost 300 dollars a year. If a fan wants to watch all games through a streaming platform they must subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket, which is 80 dollars per month, or 300 dollars a year, without package discounts.
For now, fans can save money by watching the game at home, but even that’s going up.
