A beachfront home in Buxton has collapsed on Tuesday, becoming the 12th such incident in five years. Visitors are asked to avoid the beach and stay out of the water.

A home on G.A. Kohler Court in Rodanthe collapsed into the Atlantic Ocean on Tuesday, marking the third such incident in a week.

After neighboring homes along the shore in Rodanthe collapsed within 24 hours of each other, the owner of a third home plans to remove it, if the tides allow.
Another oceanfront home collapsed on Friday night in Rodanthe, prompting officials to ask the public to avoid nearby beaches during cleanup. It was the second home to fall on Friday.
Rodanthe homes in the Outer Banks are at risk of collapsing into the Atlantic Ocean due to erosion, high winds and king tides. Seven North Carolina homes have already collapsed in the past four years.
