A pain-relieving topical ointment was recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission after they determined that the packaging was not child-resistant.

The recall stated that the Mamisan brand of ointment contains lidocaine, which means it should be in child-resistant packaging, as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act.

The department found that the packaging is not child-resistant, which poses a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.

The ointment is typically sold in 3.52-ounce plastic jars.

About 50,330 units were affected by this recall, and no injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately secure the recalled ointment jars out of sight and reach of children, and contact Plantimex to receive a free replacement lid. Once the product is secured with the replacement lid, customers can use the product normally.

These jars were sold at Walmart and Target from April 2024 through October 2025.
