NC Estuarium
The North Carolina Estuarium is the world’s first of its kind. An innovative environmental center that teaches about the Pamlico-Albemarle estuary (where the fresh and salt water meet), and entertains at the same time. Estuarine life, interactive displays, and fascinating artwork come together for all ages.
There is also a River roving pontoon boat that goes out for a short cruise from April through October. Small entry fee for Estuarium; boat ride is free, but call to reserve a seat.

Turnage Theatre
The Historic Turnage is a fully operational, restored vaudeville theatre in downtown Washington. Beautifully renovated, but keeping the integrity of the historic site. Enjoy a variety of shows from concerts, plays, comedy nights, open mic opportunities, art exhibits, workshops, and more!
Smoke on the Water
A barbecue competition and festival that celebrates the best of the best in BBQ! The weekend also includes a chili cook off, live music, amusements & a train ride for the kiddos, and vendors that sell everything from local art to jewelry to special one-of-kind items you won’t find anywhere else. There’s also a classic car, truck, & bike show! This fun weekend takes place in October on the beautiful Washington waterfront.

Goose Creek State Park
One of the best state parks in North Carolina. Hiking trails, camping (tent, RV, & tiny cabins), kayaking, boat ramp, swim beach, picnic areas, workshops, demonstrations, and a gorgeous nature center. Something for everyone. Get back to nature in a real way. This is a jewel about 8 miles east of Washington.
