WRAL News has learned that a PTA treasurer was charged Wednesday with embezzling thousands of dollars from the organization where she volunteered at for more than a year.

According to court documents obtained by WRAL News, the Wake Forest Police Department arrested 56-year-old Anna-Marie Ethridge on Wednesday and charged her with felony embezzlement.

Ethridge's arrest warrant stated that she was accused of embezzling $32,635.34 meant for the Wake Forest Elementary PTA in January 2025. According to the warrant, Ethridge was the treasurer of the Wake Forest Elementary PTA at the time of the embezzlement.

Wake Forest police said they were made aware of the embezzlement in November 2025 and initiated an investigation, which led to the charges filed on Wednesday.

Ethridge posted bond late Wednesday night.

She is expected to appear in court on the embezzlement charges on Thursday.
