The winners of the 2024 National Book Awards were announced on November 21st.

James by Percival Everett is the winner for Fiction.

"The last two weeks, I've been feeling pretty low," Everett said while accepting the Award. "And am still pretty low. As I look out at the excitement about the book, it gives me some hope.  But hope is no substitute for strategy."

Soldiers and Kings: Survival and Hope in the World of Human Smuggling by Jason De León is the winner for Non-Fiction.

Something About Living by Lena Khalaf Tuffaha won the Award for Poetry.

Taiwan Travelogue by Yáng Shuāng-zǐ won the Award for Translated Literature.

Kareem Between by Shifa Saltagi Safadi is the winner for Young People's Literature.
